Change Your Life One Morning at a Time

ree

I think it is fair to say that most people would describe themselves as not being a morning person. People love sleep and when we have to wake up from that sleep it isn't always what we want to do, nor is it something enjoyable. So, naturally, when the alarm sounds or someone wakes us up, our first thoughts are often negative ones.

- "Holy crap it's early"

- "I'm so tired"

- "How is it time to get up already"

- "Why did you have to wake me up"

- "Go back to your own bed"

- "I have so much to do today"

- "I'm not ready for today to come"

Or something along those lines. When we wake up those are the first things we are thinking... negative thoughts. That means we are setting ourselves up for a challenging day right from the start. We are speaking negatively and our subconscious mind is picking that up and holding on to it. Then we often times continue to say something to the effect of, "I just can't seem to get going today". Or maybe we are quick to anger or depressed that day. You become what you spend the most time thinking about so why would you want those negative beginnings to run your day?

Instead, find a way to have a positive thought to start your day. This may take some time to get good at, and you will have to be mindful, but it is so totally worth it and it makes the biggest difference in how your day goes. Here are some suggestions on what you could do to help.

-Create a custom alarm with a song that you love or that pumps you up

-Create a custom alarm with a motivational something so that it's the first thing you hear

-Put a reminder on your phone the same time your alarm goes off so that when you turn off your alarm you will read the note.

-Write something and put it next to your phone/alarm clock, or somewhere that it can be the first thing you read

Eventually you will begin to form the habit and you can be purposeful about giving yourself positive motivation to start the day and you can then repeat those things in your mind as you start your day each morning. IT DOESN'T HAVE TO BE ANYTHING BIG OR THOUGHT OUT. It can be something simple like

- "Today is going to be a good day"

- "I can't wait to get up and get going"

- "There are going to be good things coming my way today"

- "I got this"

- "I am so blessed to wake up this morning, thank you God"

- "I am important"

- "I am somebody"

- "I am strong"

Or it can be something else along those lines. When your first thoughts are positive ones, your morning, and your day, are going to be so much better than they were before. You are going to be ready to seek opportunities, make a difference, and handle the challenges that come your way. Put that together with a positive morning routine that could include exercise, meditation, prayer, reading etc. and you are set up for success! This isn't something that takes a lot of effort, but a lot of small things done over time lead to huge changes! Take the step, make the change!

YOU ARE SOMEBODY!!
